Top 4 spots to visit on Autumn Break

As the last touches of warmth fade, autumn comes into full swing. Whether you are a college student desperately trying to cram every bit of information or a parent trying to juggle your busy work schedule and your children’s busy school schedules, it is safe to say that we could all use a holiday. You deserve it. As Autumn Break inches closer, consider these 4 spots for your out of town getaway.

Disneyland Paris

Head to Europe’s most-visited theme park to bask in the magical world of Walt Disney. The Disneyland Paris campus has two theme parks, a golf course, plenty of themed, resort hotels, and a never-ending list of thrilling rides – fun for all!  Enjoy many rides from the original parks such as Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and It’s a Small World.

Everyone leaves Disney with at least one set of mouse ears, and you can join the ranks in Disney Village to browse their many boutiques and souvenir shops. From autograph books to lanyards to Mickey Mouse headbands, there are countless ways to help keep memories of this Autumn Break alive for years to come.

To go from different areas of the park and around the resort hotels, take Disney’s railway around. It’s a unique transportation method and a great way to get video and pictures of the park.

Tahitian Beauty

Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Tahiti is more than just gorgeous beaches and beautiful people: It’s a superb spot to unwind in for your Autumn Break.

Le Marche

This two-story marketplace will be the perfect spot to grab lunch, do some shopping and people watch. You’ll love the sights and sounds of the locals, along with the smells of Tahitian foods. While you’re here make sure you pick up some Monoi oil—a heavily scented Tahitian oil used for tanning and moisturizing. Also grab a Pareu, which is traditional Tahitian clothing that can be worn in many different ways or spread out as a picnicking blanket. You will also find locally made jewelry, calendars, postcards, and scented soaps at Le Marche.

Outdoor adventures

Les Trois Cascades are three beautiful waterfalls on the island. Take a hike around these cascades for an active, fun and unforgettable holiday experience. If you want to extend your stay by the waterfalls, back a light lunch and picnic while taking in the natural beauty of Tahiti.

Unsurprisingly, Tahiti is well equipped for every kind of water sport imaginable. Take a walk on the  wild side and don’t leave Tahiti without experiencing activities like surfing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Many of the hotels will offer complimentary snorkeling equipment to guests.

Prague

Prague is as much of an educational vacation as it is a cultural one. You can visit historical sights while taking in the local culture and people.

Prague Castle

An imposing and grandiose castle, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world. It’s also the official residence and office of the President of the Czech Republic. While visiting the Prague Castle, time your visit right and you’ll see the Czech “Changing of the Guard,” much like the one found at Buckingham Palace in England. This change occurs every day at noon.

During Autumn Break, Prague will just be coming out of their winter, so temperatures can vary from cool to downright hot. Be sure to check the weather report before heading out, and if the weather is cooperating, then plan on a stroll through the castle’s gardens after your guided tour is complete.

Explore the Town

Head through the city and explore the Old Town and New Town. Though named the “New” Town, it may be stretching the definition a little. The New town dates back to 14th century so regardless of where you go in Prague, you’ll be surrounded by major history.

One of the more unique activities to try in Prague is “escape rooms.” These shelter rooms have been converted into a fun scavenger hunt of sorts where you will be given clues and props to try and escape a room. Use all the smarts you got at school to find a way out.

If you are a college student looking for great nightlife, Prague has that too. With a lively club and bar scene, your best bet is to head to U Fleku in Old Town, a brew house that has been around since 1499.

Bali

Chances are you’ve already visited Bali—it is the one stop shop for families, couples, and college students looking for a quick and affordable getaway. From water sports to shopping to nightlife to delicious food, Bali has it all.  Sunbathing and relaxation are the focus for most holiday-ers to Bali, but if you want more outdoor activity, hike up Batur (an active volcano) or explore the natural Hot Springs.

For a more cultural experience, there are many Hindu temples around Bali. Most notable are the nine directional temples laid out around the city. If shopping is your real passion, head to Seminyak. This boutique area supports many young, thriving designers where you are sure to find one-of-a-kind items for yourself and everyone back home.
